A cart full of groceries leads to shoplifting charge

An accused thief sits in jail awaiting a bail hearing after a shoplifting incident Tuesday night at the Real Canadian Superstore.

The courts released the woman earlier this month on the condition she doesn’t go into the Superstore. Yesterday at about 6:00 p.m. she entered the store and tried to walk out with a cart full of groceries valued at about $275 and made no attempt to pay.

A 45-year-old Harwich Township woman has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property under $5000 obtained by a crime and failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
