RIDE check leads to drug arrest
Chatham-Kent Police and the O.P.P. conducted a joint forces RIDE check near Lacroix St. and Park Ave. W. in Chatham which resulted in 85 vehicles being stopped. One road side breath test was administered with no charge laid.
One driver was arrested on drug charges when at about 10:30 p.m., a vehicle was stopped and the male driver was found with open liquor. Further investigations led to the discovery of a quantity of narcotics. A 32-year-old Tilbury resident was arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and was later released with a future court date in Chatham.
These types of enforcement activities continue throughout the municipality.
